Artemisia and Artemisia-based products for COVID-19 management: current state and future perspective

چکیده

The search for a potent anti-coronavirus therapy severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type-2 (SARS-CoV-2) remains an overwhelming task since the outbreak of COVID-19. It is more evident that most existing antiviral and immune-boosting drugs are non-promising ineffective treatment infected patients while safety few drugs/vaccines have demonstrated high potential unclear. With daily records confirmed infectious cases across world, it crucial to emphasize need repurposed therapies with validated ethnomedicinal base focused on well-known active medicines traceable biochemical, pharmacological profiles viral infection management. In present study, recent literature Artemisia Artemisia-based products management COVID-19 reviewed. broad spectrum biological ability including properties. Besides its activity, annua shown contain appreciable amounts minerals such as zinc, gallium selenium among others.
